TREE PLANTING IN CONJUCTION WITH WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2024

5 June 2024 - In conjunction with World Environment Day 2024 celebration which carried the theme: Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience, the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation held a tree-planting event across all four districts.

Led by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Martinah binti Haji Tamit, Director of Environment, Parks and Recreation, officers and staff of the Department planted seventy-four (74) tree saplings consisting of African Tulip, Tabebuia Rosea, Rambutan, and Durian Belanda trees at Sungai Berakas Recreational Park (Brunei-Muara District), Sungai Paku Engineered Landfill (Tutong District), Jalan Maulana and Jalan Panglima (Belait District) and Batang Duri Recreational Park (Temburong District).

Fitting with the slogan 'Our Land. Our Future', this initiative contributes to the country's efforts to plant 500,000 new trees by 2035.
