FIJI, 29 August 2025 - The
Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, Ministry of Development
attended the Sixth Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia
Pacific in Nadi, Fiji, from 28 until 29 August 2025.
 |
The forum's theme focused on
"Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet," which will
also be the highlight of the upcoming seventh session of the United Nations
Environment Assembly (UNEA). The objectives of the forum were to review the
region's progress on UNEA resolutions, identify regional priorities for the
next session, and advance sustainable solutions.

Regional forums of environment
ministers take place every two years in the lead-up to the meetings of the UN
Environment Assembly (UNEA) — the body created by the Rio+20 conference in 2012
to be “the world’s parliament on the environment.” Organized by the UN
Environment Programme (UNEP) and hosted by Member States in turn, the regional
forums provide an opportunity for countries to discuss and agree on which
priorities they will put forward for adoption as UNEA resolutions.
