ASEAN

Regionally, Under the Ministry of Development, Brunei Darussalam is particularly active in the ASEAN forum where the ASEAN Environmental Cooperation focuses on priority areas of regional importance that are reflected in the Blueprint for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC Blueprint) 2025 which which relates to Conservation and Sustainable Management of Biodiversity and Natural Resources, Environmentally Sustainable Cities, Sustainable Climate, Sustainable Consumption and Production. There are also established Working Groups that take care of the priority areas where Brunei Darussalam is the Lead Country that takes care of ASEAN Environment Education.

BIMP-EAGA

Sub-regional cooperation in BIMP-EAGA was established as an important strategy for the countries that participated (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines) to address social and economic development, especially in less developed regions.

To align the strategic focus of the BIMP-EAGA, four (4) core has been approved by the BIMP-EAGA Leaders to focus on various activities and to strengthen multi-sector initiative that includes ensuring sustainable environmental management. Under the BIMP-EAGA Environment Working Group, there are several components that are looked into such as Sustainable Management Of Critical Sub-Regional Ecosystem, Climate Change Adaptation And Mitigation, Promotion Of Clean And Green Production Technologies, Addresing Priority Transboundary Issues and Mainstreaming environment in the other strategic pillars of BIMP-EAGA cooperation

OTHERS

Under OTHER REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL COOPERATION, Brunei Darussalam has also actively participated in the environmental considerations of any commitments, statements, policy decisions such as APEC, Commonwealth, ASEM, EAS, CSD, TPP etc.
