KAJIAN RINTIS SISA MAKANAN

(JASTRe), Kementerian Pembangunan telah mengadakan Majlis Penghargaan Projek
Kajian Rintis Sisa Makanan bertempat di Dewan Betabur, Kementerian Pembangunan
pada hari Rabu, 10 September 2025.

Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat Majlis ialah Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah
Martinah binti Haji Tamit, Pengarah Alam Sekitar, Taman dan Rekreasi, Jabatan
Alam Sekitar, Taman dan Rekreasi.

Majlis ini diadakan bagi menghargai kerjasama serta komitmen yang
telah diberikan dalam menjayakan Projek Kajian Rintis Sisa Makanan yang
berlangsung selama sebulan bermula 26 Jun hingga 31 Julai 2025 dengan kerjasama
Syarikat Biofield Solutions Sdn Bhd. Projek ini telah melibatkan seramai enam
puluh tiga (63) vendor makanan dari dua lokasi komersial iaitu The Mall, Gadong
dan One Riverside.

Sepanjang tempoh projek tersebut, sejumlah 2,240.99 kilogram sisa makanan telah berjaya dikumpul daripada
kedua-dua lokasi berkenaan berdasarkan data yang direkodkan oleh Syarikat
Biofield Solutions. Secara purata, One Riverside mencatatkan sekitar 97 kilogram sisa makanan sehari, manakala
The Mall, Gadong mencatatkan purata sekitar 82.8 kilogram sehari.

Daripada jumlah ini, pecahan komposisi sisa makanan yang
diasingkan ialah:

One Riverside: 55%
sayur-sayuran/buah-buahan, 38% karbohidrat, 6.5% daging/tulang, dan kurang
daripada 1% sisa kopi.
·
The Mall, Gadong: 58%
sayur-sayuran/buah-buahan, 28% karbohidrat, 14% daging/tulang, dan 0% sisa kopi.
Projek kajian rintis ini merupakan satu langkah penting dalam
usaha negara untuk memperkukuhkan pengurusan sisa makanan berteraskan konsep Circular
Economy. Melalui projek ini, sisa makanan berjaya dikumpul dan dikitar
semula untuk dijadikan baja organik berkualiti tinggi. Kejayaan projek ini
telah membuktikan bahawa kerjasama daripada semua pihak mampu mendorong
pengurusan sisa makanan yang lebih mampan dan dapat menyumbang kepada aspirasi
negara dalam pemeliharaan alam sekitar.

Selain itu, pihak JASTRe juga telah mengadakan sesi perjumpaan
bersama pihak pengurusan One Riverside pada 7 Ogos 2025 dan pihak pengurusan
The Mall, Gadong pada 21 Ogos 2025 bagi mengongsikan hasil projek rintis serta
membincangkan hala tuju seterusnya. Hasil positif daripada projek ini akan
diperluaskan lagi ke lokasi-lokasi strategik komersial lain bagi memperkukuhkan
lagi pengumpulan data sisa makanan, meningkatkan kesedaran orang awam dan menggalakkan
penglibatan yang lebih ramai daripada pelbagai pihak dalam menjayakan Eco Food
Waste Initiative.

APPRECIATION EVENT FOR FOOD WASTE PILOT STUDY
PROJECT

10th September 2025 - The Department
of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), Ministry of Development, held
the Appreciation Event for the Food Waste Pilot Study Project at Dewan Betabur,
Ministry of Development on Wednesday, 10th September 2025.

Present as the Guest of Honour was
Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Martinah binti Haji Tamit, Director of Environment,
Parks and Recreation, Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation.

The event was held to recognise the
cooperation and commitment contributed towards the success of the Food Waste
Pilot Study Project, which was conducted for one month from 26th June to 31st
July 2025 in collaboration with Biofield Solutions Sdn Bhd. The project
involved a total of sixty-three (63) food vendors from two commercial locations,
namely The Mall, Gadong and One Riverside.

During the project period, a total
of 2,240.99 kilograms of food waste was successfully collected from
both locations, based on data recorded by Biofield Solutions. On average, One
Riverside generated approximately 97 kilograms of food waste per day,
while The Mall, Gadong recorded an average of 82.8 kilograms per day.

From this total, the breakdown of
segregated food waste composition is as follows:
- One Riverside: 55%
vegetables/fruits, 38% carbohydrates, 6.5% meat/bones, and less than 1%
coffee grounds.
- The Mall, Gadong: 58%
vegetables/fruits, 28% carbohydrates, 14% meat/bones, and 0% coffee
grounds.
This pilot study represents an
important step in the nation’s efforts to strengthen food waste management
based on the concept of the Circular Economy. Through this project, food waste
was successfully collected and recycled into high-quality organic fertilizer.
The project’s success has proven that collaboration among all parties can drive
more sustainable food waste management while contributing to the country’s
aspirations for environmental preservation.

In addition, JASTRe also held
engagement sessions with the management of One Riverside on 7th August 2025 and
with the management of The Mall, Gadong on 21st August 2025 to share the
outcomes of the pilot study and to discuss the next steps. The positive results
of this project will be further expanded to other strategic commercial
locations to strengthen food waste data collection, enhance public awareness,
and encourage broader participation from various stakeholders in supporting the
Eco Food Waste Initiative.
