Starting in 2020, the National Service Programme under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports have included 'environment' as part of the syllabus for their recruit, and we find that this is a good platform for us to not just share and expose them on environmental awareness but at the same time to get ideas and suggestions from them on how to tackle and address environmental issues.
The PKBN is a 3-month voluntary programme for Brunei youths aged 16-21 with the objectives to:
- To develop positive characteristics and enhance the spirit of patriotism, commitment, resilience, solidarity and unity in youths.
- To produce healthy, confident, responsible and excellent Bruneian youths
Another awareness talk was conducted for the recruits
of Program Khidmat Bakti Negara (PKBN) on 20th February 2021. The talk
started with a presentation on the introduction to JASTRe with the roles
and services provided by the Department. The aim of the presentation is
for the recruits to familiarize what are the role and responsibilities
of JASTRe towards the environment and what are their roles in keeping
the environment clean, green and safe for everyone. The event followed
by a group activity called Recycle Rally Bingo.
