Currently Brunei Darussalam has bilateral agreement with Singapore on environmental cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding was first signed on 27thAugust 2005 between The Ministry of Development, Brunei Darussalam on behalf of the Government of Brunei Darussalam and The Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Singapore on behalf of the Government of Singapore. To deepen cooperation and foster continual progress in the strong relationship between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore in the environmental and water arena, the Ministers responsible on environment have renewed the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Partnership in Environmental Affairs between the two Ministries on 26 February 2015.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed is to further the cooperation between the parties in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development on the basis of equality and mutual benefit which include:
- Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste Management
- Transboundary Haze
- Environmental Acts and Regulations
- Vehicle Pollution
- Water Resource Management
- Chemical Management
- Laboratory Analysis
- Recycling and Environmental Education Programs
- Technical Visits for Issues that are related to Environmental Management in cities particularly air and water pollution
- Other issues that is agreed upon by the two parties
